From Petrol to Power: How ST1 is Revolutionising Energy Stations in the Nordics
In the latest episode of The Future of Convenience podcast, “From Petrol to Power: How ST1 is Revolutionizing Energy Stations in the Nordics,” hosts Carolyn Schnare and Nick Scherzer dive deep into the transformative journey of ST1, a Nordic energy company, as it shifts towards e-mobility. Erik Anker, Business Development Manager, and Daniel Campos, E-Mobility Analyst at ST1, share their insights on how the company is evolving to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging.
ST1 has been a leader in integrating EV charging infrastructure into its traditional fuel stations, particularly in Norway, where EV adoption is skyrocketing. “We started our e-mobility journey back in 2016 with our first charging site. Today, 95% of new cars sold in Norway are electric,” Erik explained. This shift has pushed ST1 to rethink its entire operational model, from partnering with third-party charging operators to taking operational control.
From petrol stations to energy stations
The discussion highlights not only the technical and logistical challenges but also the evolving customer behavior. Daniel emphasized the significance of understanding the new EV driver, saying, “We’ve learned that much of the value in e-mobility lies in having prime locations where customers want to charge. But beyond that, operating our own infrastructure gives us access to customer data, helping us create a more personalized experience.”
ST1’s approach to energy stations goes beyond simply charging vehicles. They are focused on creating a complete experience, from easy payment solutions to enhancing on-site amenities. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the future of energy and mobility.
