The bk World Lounge at the Tesla Supercharger in Bayreuth is a modern electric car charging park right at the Autobahn A9. Bk World is a pioneer that make travelling by electric car more comfortable and safer.

It is precisely designed for the charging break time. The modern facility offers snacks, drinks, toilets and seating. Bk World Lounges are green field solutions for all CPOs and the only scalable concept in the World. At the moment 11 bk World Lounges are open in Europe. More than 60 sites to come in the next 18 months all around the World.

Site Overview

Bayreuth is located on one of the largest motorways in Germany. The bk World is located directly at the Bayreuth Nord exit. In addition to residents, it is mainly travellers on long-haul journeys with electric passenger cars who come here. The bk World offers everything they need in the approximately 15 minutes of loading time.

The EV HUB is open to drivers of electric vehicles of all car brands. They can charge their cars at Tesla Superchargers under large PV-equipped roofs. The Lounge is located directly next to the chargers. It is open 24/7, the entry is free of charge.

Guests can sit in front of or in the pleasantly tempered lounge and enjoy the view of their vehicle through a large glass window. The sanitary area is modern and clean.

State-of-the-art vending machines offer snacks, sandwiches, water, juices or energy drinks and ice cream. Coffee is also available as well as hot pizza from a pizza vending machine. The product portfolio is constantly adapted to customer requirements on the basis of surveys and sales figures. All purchase processes in lounge are cashless. Free WLAN is available just like a games console for guests to play Mariokart free of charge.

EV Charging

The charging park next to bk World Lounge is a Tesla Supercharger operated by Tesla.

At the EV HUB drivers of electric vehicles of all car brands can charge their cars with CCS connection at Tesla V4 Superchargers with up to 250 kW. There are currently 20 DC-chargers available on site with option to expand with increased number of customers.

All 20 chargers in Bayreuth are spanned by a large roof, which is fitted with PV modules. The bk World Lounge itself is also equipped with PV modules. This electricity is used directly for the consumers in the lounge.

The charging park offers a special charging space for disabled people with enough space around the car as well as a space specially labelled for cyclists, with enough space for a car with bike rack.

There is also a Tesla test vehicle available on site, in which interested parties can take a test drive free of charge.The Lounge is illuminated at night, to ensure safety and visibility at all times. As we are always open to feedback to enhance the charging experience for our customers, there are QR Codes placed in the lounge so guests can contact us quickly.

Utilisation rate

We can see the charging rate and know that 72 % of the charging guests also use the lounge. We know that because of purchases made and toilet use rate.

Uptime

The bk World Lounge is open 24/7. The uptime rate of the charges in 2024 was 99,98 %.

Maintenance

We have staff at every bk World location who regularly carry out cleaning and maintenance work of the lounge, the interior and the charging stalls. Regular visual and quality checks on site ensure that problems are solved quickly. In addition, bk World is under video surveillance, which also contributes to safety and functionality.

If something does happen while there is no staff on site, guests can contact our Service Centre, which will take care of the problem as quickly as possible.

Additional Mobility offers

Bk World is all about electric mobility. With our hyperflexible lounge solution, we enable a faster expansion of the electric charging infrastructure. Meanwhile we integrate more and more charging points also for Truck Charging.

Integrated Customer Journey

The EV HUB at bk World Bayreuth can be found in all e-mobility apps. However, as the charging park is operated by Tesla, the first route to find the charging park is via the Tesla app or the Tesla navigation system. When planning the route, the appropriate charging location is immediately suggested.

The charging station along with pictures of the site and the lounge can be found in the navigation system. There, users can see what is available locally and get price information. The lounge with the charging park can also be found via the bk World website where all bk world locations are listed.

Charging on site follows the principle of plug and charge. Tesla drivers have stored their means of payment in the app and only need to plug their vehicle into a free charging point. Drivers of other brands can also easily control charging via the Tesla app.

The bk World Lounges at charging parks are a scalable product. Due to their modular structure and easy to build nature, CPO’s can use them at every new or already existing charging park. With by now 11 lounges, we already created a unified experience for electric car drivers and an absolutely go-to-charging-park. Guests get everything they need in about 15 Minutes. From a relaxed atmosphere to snacks and drinks to very clean toilets.
And they cherish it.

Ease of Payment

Electric car drivers pay their charging easily and barrier-free by depositing their credit or charge card in their Tesla App. So, all they have to do is hook up their vehicle to the charging stall. The rest happens automatically. The prices are displayed in the navigation system broken down by time of day. The total price can be viewed in the vehicle during the entire charging process.

In the bk World Lounge itself, payment is also completely cashless. This creates security and is uncomplicated. To enter the sanitary area, simply hold a card or phone in front of the card reader and the door opens.

A similar system applies to refrigerators. Guests simply have to present their means of payment, open the door and remove the desired product. The refrigerator or vending machine recognises exactly which product has been removed and only debits this product.

Bk World is a subsidiary of the bk Group, which has been as a Market Leader providing shopfitting and facility management services throughout Europe for over 25 years. In June 2022, we opened the first bk World at a charging park in Endsee, Germany. We have since built and operated 11 bk World lounges in Europe.

We see ourselves as a partner to CPOs and support them throughout the entire process, from due diligence, planning and authorization of the EV Hub to construction and subsequent operation, including cleaning and maintenance of the lounge as soon as it is open. With this business model, we enable CPOs to open up completely new locations, independent of existing infrastructure.
