‘Best Foodvenience Store in the World’ 2024 – Coming soon
During the past six months the team at Insight Research have been focusing on new mobility retail opportunities through our search for ‘The Best EV Hub in the World‘.
This search, together with Vontier and sponsored by Visa and The Coca-Cola Company has engaged our industry in a global competition, generating hundreds of thousands of online interactions, plus thousands of online votes as our industry selects their ultimate winner, which will be announced on May 9th.
Coming this June, our next initiative will shift the focus in-store with the launch of our search for ‘The Best Foodvenience Store in the World’.
We have an exciting team for this. Frank Gleeson, former President & CEO of Aramark Northern Europe and former NACS Chairman is joining Insight Research in a Board Advisory role and will be a key part of the team running this exciting industry initiative. Frank is one of the key global experts on foodservice in our industry.
Celebrating success and innovation
The aim of these initiatives is simple. To move the needle on the future of mobility retail and now on foodvenience retail globally, in the way that our industry always has – by sharing and celebrating success and innovation.
As a global contest this is a chance to be seen and recognised throughout the world as the very best; while at the same time providing insight and learning for our industry globally as we search for the very best in class.
‘The Best Foodvenience Store in the World’ 2024
Our search for the ‘The Best Foodvenience Store in the World’ will focus on three areas;
- The consumer facing offer.
- Operational excellence.
- Financial performance.
We’ll be inviting leading c-store operators from around the world to participate by entering a store, representative of their network, which they believe best represents excellence in the combination of these three areas.
What does good look like?
In today’s world of convenience retail, it must start with foodservice, which is increasingly driving convenience store growth and profitability.
We’ll be searching for retailers who have the most engaging and enjoyable customer experience. We’ll be looking for those retailers who are future proofing their convenience stores by making themselves part of the daily routines of their customers through breakfast, lunch and dinner day-parts and the snacking occasions in-between, by creating more authentic food ‘stories’.
Firstly, our search will consider the consumer facing offer. We are interested to learn how brands, product offer, site layout, customer flow through to design play a role in bringing foodvenience to life. Thinking about the retail environment and experience, our search will also explore approaches to the use of in-store seating areas, drive-thrus, mobile ordering through to loyalty and more. All of which drive increased foot fall, basket size and repeat business.
Secondly, a great foodvenience store is nothing without operational excellence. We’ll be looking to understand how retailers are enhancing operations, supporting and developing world class store teams and effectively integrating technology as an enabler into store operations, particularly where it allows store teams to be focused where they are most effective.
And finally, we want to home the global industry in onto focusing on the ‘metrics that matter’. One vital measure of success is foodservice as a percentage of EBITDA. Remember, we’ll be looking for retailers who have best combined an elevated consumer offer with operational excellence and financial performance.
